Moving to the UK was a tough time. I was 13 when I came to join my mum. Shortly afterwards she became very ill with depression. That experience has made me a compassionate, patient person.
My stuttering was a huge obstacle. I remember when I was 16 and I said to my mum, ‘My life is over. I’m never going to be anybody, because you have to speak, and I can’t.

In 2002, she received two awards – one from The Prince’s Trust, for work with youngsters in her local community and the other from The Royal Society Of Art Entrepreneur Awards.
